Why a doctor-lawyer

Medical knowledge, applied to the law

Dr Chee Hui Bing worked as a medical officer at Hospital Batu Pahat and Putra Specialist Hospital before he was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor. He holds an M.D. from Universiti Sains Malaysia, an LL.B and LLM from the University of London, and an LLM from Universiti Utara Malaysia. That training helps us read clinical records, brief the right experts and explain medical issues in plain language.

Your case journey

Every move has a strategy

Most legal problems follow a series of steps. Here is how a typical matter moves, and what we do at each one. Not every case needs every step, and many settle before court.

  1. Step 1

    Consultation

You tell us what happened. We listen, ask the right questions and explain your options and the time limits that may apply.

  2. Step 2

    Gather records & evidence

We help you collect documents, messages, photos and records, and identify the witnesses who matter.

  3. Step 3

    Legal assessment

We weigh the facts against the law and the case law, and set out your strengths, risks and realistic paths forward.

  4. Step 4

    Letter of demand

A formal letter sets out your claim and what you want. Often, this alone moves the other side to respond.

  5. Step 5

    Negotiation / mediation

We negotiate, or use mediation, to look for a fair settlement without the cost and delay of trial.

  6. Step 6

    Court, if needed

If talks fail, we file and run your case in court, keeping you updated in your language at every stage.

  7. Step 7

    Resolution

The matter closes through settlement, judgment or another outcome, and we explain what comes next, including enforcement.

Every case is different. Steps can overlap or be skipped, and we explain each one before it happens. Nothing here is a promise of a particular outcome.

Common questions

Quick answers

Can I sue a doctor or hospital for medical negligence in Malaysia?

Yes, if the doctor or hospital fell below the standard of a reasonably competent practitioner and that failure caused you harm. Whether you have a claim depends on your medical records, independent expert evidence, causation and the time limit.

Can I sue someone for defamation on social media?

Yes. Posts on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, WhatsApp, Google reviews and blogs are judged on the same principles as print: a defamatory meaning, reference to you, and publication to at least one other person.

What should I do if I am arrested?

Stay calm, ask to contact a lawyer (section 28A Criminal Procedure Code), don't sign documents you do not understand, and let your family know where you are.

Can I divorce within two years of marriage?

Generally no. Section 50 of the Law Reform (Marriage and Divorce) Act 1976 bars a petition in the first two years unless the court gives leave for exceptional hardship.

What is the time limit for an unfair dismissal claim?

60 days from the date of dismissal, under section 20 of the Industrial Relations Act 1967. The deadline is strict.

Which languages do you work in?

English, Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese (Mandarin).
